Teaching

Michelle is an experienced, enthusiastic and passionate educator teaching pupils of all ages (from age five upwards), with a busy teaching studio in Bradley Stoke, Bristol. Although a flute specialist, high quality tuition is also provided for pupils wishing to learn saxophone, clarinet and recorder.

Michelle provides holistic and enjoyable lessons in a nurturing environment. Whether playing for pleasure or preparing for an exam, tuition is tailored for each individual building skills in a stepwise approach, ensuring a good technique and secure foundation, to enable pupils to really enjoy and develop a love of music.

As well as your individual private lesson, you will be encouraged to join Michelle’s musical community, with regular opportunities to take part in workshops, group lessons, ensembles and to perform in both formal and informal settings and concerts. Previous prestigious concert venues have included the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and St George's Brandon Hill, Bristol.

Michelle currently holds teaching positions at the University of the West of EnglandRedmaids’ High School for Girls, Montpelier High School (formally Colston's Girls' School), Wycliffe Preparatory School and St Mary Redcliffe and Temple School, and is Musical Director for community flute choir Silverwinds. Previous teaching positions have been in a variety of settings including; 10 years with the South Gloucestershire Music Service, independent schools, and as a guest tutor at a number of national workshops.

Within her teaching, Michelle regularly prepares pupils for examinations and festivals.

With the cost of high quality instruments increasing, and the potentially short amount of time a pupil may use an assisted reach instrument, Michelle has a number of specialist instruments available to rent. Specific instruments can be discussed at a consultation lesson.

Michelle has a current DBS (formerly CRB) clearance, and is a full member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians holding Registered Private Teacher Status.

All prospective pupils are advised to attend a free consultation lesson and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Michelle.
